Philippine SWAT storm bus with hostages in Manila 23 August 2010 MANILA, Philippines – It looked like a hostage rescue in slow motion: Police creeping up on the bus with sledgehammers and smashing first one window, then another, then trying and failing to rip open the door. When they finally got inside, authorities said, they found eight bodies: seven Hong Kong tourists and the ex-policeman who had seized the bus to demand his job back. Another tourist later died in the hospital, a Chinese Embassy spokesman said. "There is something wrong with the national police. It is viewed more as a source of livelihood for the policemen rather than an institution to protect law and order," human rights lawyer Harry Roque told AFP. The Chinese government expressed outrage on Friday after television footage showed a Philippine flag draped over the coffin of a gunman who hijacked a busload of Hong Kong tourists. "The person who deserves a national flag at (their) funeral should be someone of heroism, decency and integrity, not someone who inflicts atrocity on innocent lives," the Chinese embassy in Manila said in a statement. "This is nothing but a smear on the dignity of the Philippine national flag." |

Driving In an around Cebu City 2 August 2010 A drive into the city to go to the Bank can be a hair raising event, I been driving for over 40 years now an when I left the states had a class D lic (TRUCKS ), Driving here I tend to think of driving like its bumper cars but just dont bump if you got white skin, your day ill surely be complete. An expensive to boot Pass you on the right side thats (OK) Stop signs there are no stop signs, push out into on going traffic (OH YES )Lucky enough they dont drive very fast 40 mph would be all most dangers |
